How Players can Read the Map

In front of you is a small, metallic, rectangular object. It appears as the top and bottom of a book with no pages. A small switch flips separates the top from the bottom. As the book opens a glow illuminates what appears to be a map. Colorful and vibrant.

As you open the book you hear a voice, one you recognize. The voice is that of your father, the man who raised you since you can remember. “My Children, I hope this tablet finds you in good health. I have missed you all these years, for my comings and goings have left me little time to raise you as I would have liked. The time has come for me to end my journey, I’ve not long before I am called for something greater. What I leave to you is the reason for my absence, a map of this world. I have never taken you on my journeys; for good reason. You were ill prepared to see and understand what has happened to our world. Nobody remembers what has become of those who came before our generation. It seems that many generations ago the world was destroyed: again and again. The means or reasoning of such events are beyond me. My life has been spent attempting to attain the knowledge of the past, and to possibly build a future for you and your children. This tablet is the combined knowledge of everything I have experienced. I hope you would take it upon yourselves to continue my quest for the betterment of all.”
